What Is the Hideout?
When you first start the game, you’ll notice there’s a menu called “Hideout” next to the main menu option, on the bottom left corner of the screen. If you press it, you’ll be directed to a kind of dark base, full of sections (modules) waiting to be constructed.
In essence, the Hideout is an independent feature of Escape from Tarkov’s main gameplay loop that you can use or avoid completely. However, if you decide to not use it, you’ll lose several important bonuses, like cooldown reductions for your Scav character, increased healing regeneration, and the possibility to craft meds or repair armor, among many others.
To build a module, you’ll usually need to bring the items asked for that specific module. Some of these can be purchased from Traders and other players or obtained via quests, while most can be looted in a Raid.
The items can be in your stash and inside other equipment, like bags. If you have the required items, you’ll see a tick in the module requisites.
However, you might also be asked to have reached a certain Loyalty Level with a Trader or have other modules built first to construct some of these. This is what happens, for example, with the Booze Generator.
While you will see the buildable modules on the scenario, you’ll have the complete list at the bottom of the screen.
In the next section, this guide will tell you what you need to build each module.
